Since commissioning in the Army Reserve in 2011, LTC Yaffe served as a Medical Officer with the Damage Control Resuscitation group at the United States Army Institute for Surgical Research at Fort Sam Houston, Texas until May 2012, and he is currently a Trauma Surgeon/Critical Care Intensivist with the 804th Medical Brigade, 399 Combat Surgical Hospital, Alpha Company, based at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. He will deploy with the 945th Forward Surgical Team in Afghanistan in January 2014 for a 90-day tour. He is the David H. Koch Professor of Biology and Biological Engineering at MIT, where he runs a lab at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, and a practicing surgeon/surgical intensivist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School in the Longwood area of Boston.
